BELVEDERE

Belvedere is an AKC Registered Pure Bred Yellow Labrador Retriever
His registered AKC name is Belvedere CeCe Better CODA.
Belvedere is totally blind.
Belvedere was surrendered to rescue by his breeder who had no idea how to
care for a blind puppy
A Labrador Rescue in Tennessee contacted us about Belvedere's plight
We sincerely thank Sharon from East Tennesee Labrador Rescue for helping to
save Belvedere's life.
We also thank the Breeder for surrendering Belvedere to rescue so we could
help him find a wonderful forever home.
He is a very sweet and loving puppy.
Belvedere is a very intelligent puppy who has already learned to count to
4, go up and down the stairs to the securely fenced in play area, (4 steps)
and has also learned his name, and learned the verbal commands, "step
up", "step down", "stop", "slow down",
"come here" and " give kisses" in just the first 4 days
of being safely in rescue.
Belvedere gets along great with all the other dogs here in rescue and is fine
with kitties also.
Belvedere has even melted our "dog aggressive" dog Nina's heart
and Nina has taken a liking to little Belvedere and even sniffed him gently
the past few days when allowed contact with him.
So with Belvedere's help their may be hope of helping our Nina get over her dog aggression issues!
Belvedere was seen by a Veterinary Opthamologist on August 16th who recommended that we do a total enucleation of both of his eyes. After consulting with our regular Veterinarian we agreed to do entropian surgery to relieve the pain Belvedere was experiencing due to his eyelids turning inward and causing infections and pain instead of a total enucliation of his eyes.
Belvedere enjoyed the Road Trip to the Veterinary Opthamologists
We have raised the funding necessary for Belvedere's Surgery
and
Belvedere is scheduled for his Entropian Surgery on
September 10th 2004. We will keep you posted on his progress.
Special Thanks to:

For helping us to help Belvedere get the surgery he needs
so urgently!
UPDATE: Belvedere had his Entropian Surgery on October 30th.
He was able to come home that evening and ate, drank, went out to potty and
then was out for the night.
He woke up this morning full of energy and ready to play. Keeping Belvedere
Calm and resting for the next ten days will be the hardest part of his recovery.
He has stitches around both eyes and was also neutered and microchipped.
He is doing well though and as happy and loving as ever!
Thanks to everyone who helped us to help Belvedere live pain free!
Belvedere is a typical Labrador and loves his swimming pool!
Belvedere attended the SW PA Deaf Dog Picnic on Sept 26th 2004 along with
his Deaf Foster fursiblings
Here are some photo's of Belvedere enjoying the picnic

That's Belvedere following his foster brothers "Blake" and "Finnean
"-the Great Dane with his Foster Dad!
UPDATE:
Belvedere has been adopted into a wonderful home. He has 3 new Mommies to
spoil him rotten and a nice sized fenced in yard to play with his two new
fur brothers Shultz and Stanley. Belvedere is happily living in Parma Ohio
and is close enough for us to visit and keep updated on his progress and he
can still have an occasional playdate with his best buddy in rescue "Blake"
our Deaf Bull Terrier mix puppy. Nina is sure going to miss Belvedere though!

Belvedere couldn't resist the urge to take a break for a play session with
his favorite toy!
UPDATE 12/04
Belvedere's senior Schnazuer brother Schultz passed over to the rainbow bridge
Schultz was sick for a very long time with diabetes .Schultz was 12 years
old.
UPDATE 3/05
Belvedere had a bump on his ear which worsened and starting bleeding so he
had to have surgery
to remove the lump from his ear and have a biopsy done.
Please keep our Belvedere in your prayers
We are praying the lump is benign
UPDATE 3/31/05
Belvedere's mom called us today and his biopsy results were benign.
Thank you for your prayers it was just a fatty tumor and he is doing great
and has
his stitches out already.
