CHARLIE THE WONDER DOG
( Charlie has been renamed BAILEY)

(Twice Freecycled on the Cleveland Ohio Freecycle list)

(This photo was taken after Charlie's eye surgery)
Charlie is a Golden Retriever mix
Charlie was surrendered to our rescue when we inquired about him after seeing Charlie posted on the Cleveland
Freecyle list.
Charlie had already been freecyled once before about six months ago and has never seen a veterinarian
before coming into rescue with CODA.

Charlie is fully sighted and hears fine.
Charlie is approximately a year old and is housebroken, crate trained and excellent with children, other dogs and cats.

Charlie is now up to date on all his vaccinations and it was discovered during Charlies initial veterinary
exam by our veterinarian Dr. Brian that Charlie has a painful condition caused by the fur near his eyes
protruding into the corners of his eyes causing tearing, irritation, and causing Charlie pain

(This photo was taken before Charlie's Eye Surgery)
This condition causes Charlie to rub at his eyes constantly trying to alleviate the pain and irritation
Charlies right eye is in worse condition than his left

You would never know Charlie was in pain by his demeanor as he's such a sweet and loving dog
Charlie is scheduled for his neuter surgery on Feb 7th and Dr. Brian will correct Charlies eye condition while
Charlie is under anethesia for his neuter surgery.

Charlie is very hand shy which indicates sometime in his past Charlie was hit by human hands
Charlie will pull back when you reach down to pet him .Charlie is also not a fan of riding in cars and experiences car sickness
We are also working on alleviating Charlies fear of riding in cars.

Charlie is a super dog with a very loving personality who was absolutely wonderful with the two young
Children (8 mo old-2 year-old) in the family who surrendered him to CODA
The family who surrendered Charlie to us stated that the people they received Charlie from via freecycle
had kept Charlie chained outdoors on a chain before they welcomed Charlie as an indoor dog into their home

Charlie would like to thank Kim Kleppel from NY for contributing to his medical care
Charlie would also like to thank Roger in Binghamton NY for offering Charlie a wonderful foster home
once Charlie is medically ready to go to his foster home.
UPDATE- 1/8/05
Charlie is recovering well from his neuter surgery and his entropian surgery
Charlie is much happier and playful now that he is no longer in pain
UPDATE: 2/28/05
Charlie has overcome all his handshy issues since he's been here in rescue
Charlie is 100% housebroken and crate trained.
Charlie keeps his crate clean although he loves to have his toys and treats in his crate with him
Charlie gets along well with all the other dogs in rescue and is fine with cats also.
Charlie still gets carsick when riding in cars
We believe Charlie may have been in a bad car accident at some point in his past.
He loves to go for a ride in a car but after about a half hour of riding he "throws up".
Charlie has done fine in the car on short trips to the Vet's office though.
UPDATE-3/13/05
