GEORGE
MALE PUREBRED COCKER SPANIEL

George is a Pure Bred Buff and White Male Cocker Spaniel
George was saved from a Missouri Puppy Mill that was closing down and had
threatened to shoot any animals
left that did not sell at auction. A few rescuers in Missouri saved the remaining
dogs and George along with
two other Cocker Spaniels were transported to Cleveland to find rescues that
could help them
George arrived at CODA on Oct 2 nd 2005
The first order of business was a very good bath for George who was covered
in fleas and very filthy.
George was a very good boy for his bath and had a big smile once his bath
was finished and the toweling off phase began:)
George is still very scared of quick movements and loud noises but is doing
very well considering he has spent his entire
life in a cage being used as a breeder by the Puppy Mill owner in Missouri
Are you aware the state of Missouri has the largest number of Puppy Mills
of any state in the Nation?
It's a real black mark on the State of Missouri that so many of it's residents
make a living off of the suffering of
companion animals
George is estimated to be between 2-3 years old
George was seen by our Veterinarian Dr. Brian at Gateway Animal Clinic on
Oct 3rd 2005
George is now up to date on all his vaccinations including his Rabies vaccination.
George has been heartworm tested and we should know the results soon.
George also received a T4 Thyroid test as Dr. Brian was concerned he may be
hypo thyroid
We should know the results of George's thyroid test soon also.
George has started on antibiotics to help his skin and in preparation for
a much needed dental
George also received a Capstar treatment for his fleas and will will receive
a frontline treatment on Oct 5th 2005
George's ears were also very infected and we have begun treatments for his
ears with Otomox.
George's first Vet Bill total was $141.00
George allowed our Director to brush his teeth and scrape off some of the
tartar after arriving back at his foster home from his visit with Dr. Brian
George will receive daily brushings with hydrogen peroxide and doggie toothpaste
until he receives his dental procedure
when he is under anethesia for his neuter surgery
George has a very loving and sweet personality although still very shy and
scared.
Blake our deaf Bull Terrier is working on teaching George how to play with
dog toys and is helping George to realize he is now safe and no one will abuse
or hurt him again.
George always has a big smile when he comes in from playing with Blake in
the safely fenced play area.!
George really enjoys liver snaps dog treats but doesn't much care for other
brands:)
George will run to his crate if he is scared and sees his crate as his safe
spot.
George has not had any accidents in the house in his foster home and will
wait until he goes outdoors to potty.
UPDATE 10/11/05

his tapeworms

UPDATE 11/12/05
George has taken to collecting dog toys and hiding them in his crate. He also
likes to hide treats in his crate. George's crate is his safe spot although
he spends more time
out of his crate each passing day!
UPDATE 11/30/05
George was neutered yesterday and while he was under anethesia for his neuter
surgery our Veterinarian
also did a much needed dental procedure on George's Teeth by doing a thorough
cleaning, polising and
removal of teeth that were broken off upon arrival at CODA.
George's teeth were all completely black with tartar buildup upon arrival.
George's teeth are now sparkling white and look fantastic. There was not much
decay under all that tartar
and almost all of George's teeth were able to be saved and George is acting
very happy today and his breath is so much better now.
Dr. Brian and all the Vet techs commented on what a sweet wonderful personality
George has
and what a good boy he was for all his much needed medical care
George is now totally healthy and ready for a new loving home!
TOTAL COST FOR NEUTER AND DENTAL WORK $268
UPDATE 12/6/05
George received his second droncit treatment for his tapeworms today.
George's neuter sutures will be removed this thursday and George is really

and becoming a very happy playful dog.

being outdoors is still
scary for George after spending his life in a puppy mill cage so he does not
like to walk on a leash
near any type of car traffic as it scares him
Cocker Spaniel experience preferred but not mandatory
Homes with Cats are O.K.
Homes with other smaller breed friendly dogs is fine also
