JORDON

(This was Jordon's Shelter Photo at Pike County Dog Pound)
Jordon is a totally blind Beagle
Jordon has severe cataracts
Jordon arrived at CODA on March 7th at 5:00 P.M
Jordon was rescued from the Pike County OH Dog Pound
Pike County Dog Pound helped arrange transport for Jordon so he could
quickly get out of the shelter and safely here to CODA
Our Buffalo N.Y. Foster Mom will be fostering Jordon and she drove all the
way
From Buffalo N.Y to Cleveland Ohio on March 7th to meet Jordon at our Vet's
office here in Cleveland
So she could transport Jordon back to her home in Buffalo to provide the much
needed care
and ongoing rehabilitation he will need
When Jordon met his " Mommy Cathy" his Foster Mom he melted into
her lap
and rolled right over for a nice long belly rub .
CODA thanks our Buffalo Foster Home for alerting us to Jordon's urgent need
to be rescued
without her committment to foster Jordon we would have been unable to save
Jordon
Jordon loves his belly rubs
When our Cleveland Foster Dad Ron picked Jordon up in Mansfield Ohio
Jordon rolled over and begged for a good belly rub from Ron

Jordon arrived with Shirley from Pike County and Jordon's ears were bothering
him so badly
from the severe mite infestation and resulting infections that he could not
stop shaking his head
(Photo above)

Jordon has infections underneath his cataracts and his eye lenses have dropped
in both eyes
Jordon may be a good candidate for Cataract removal and lens implantion to
restore his eyesight
Jordon will have to see a canine opthamologist once he finishes his two weeks
of antibiotic treatments
We're hoping the antibiotics will help to cure the underlying infections under
his cataracts
Jordon's eyes were filled with puss from the infection upon arrival at CODA
Jordon is also currently undergoing intensive treatment for his ear infections
and mite infestation
Jordon was also suffering from severe intestinal distress upon arrival and
is on medication for that also
Jordon's nails were starting to curl under they were so long from lack of
care
Jordon's teeth are in terrible condition
Jordon was not neutered when he arrived at CODA
Jordon's known medical conditions
Major Dental Decay
Blind from severe cataracts
Severe infections under the cataracts in both eyes

UPDATE 3/21/06
Jordon was neutered today and also received some very intenstive dental work
he required
Jordon had several teeth removed that were badly decayed. One of his teeth
had dried imbedded hair that
went under his gumline and caused a very serious infection which required
the extraction of that tooth
in addition to several others.
Jordon should be feeling much better soon now that all the rotting teeth have
been extracted
Jordon will be seeing a Canine Opthamologist for his cataracts as soon as
he's recovered from his surgery and dental work

Jordon relaxing in his foster home in Buffalo NY
UPDATE 3/31/06
Jordon was seen by a Veterinary Opthamologist today to examine his eyes.
We found out Jordon has glaucoma, also he is probably in pain so Jordon started
on medication (Methazolamide 50mg 2x/day) to take the pressure down (hopefully)
& we can set up surgery right away...Evisceration & Intraocular Prosthesis.
The Rescue 40% discount brings it to $1220
Jordon's new Mom has agreed to pay for his needed eye surgery
Today's visit was $99.30

UPDATE 4/4/06
Jordan was unable to walk last night but
didn't seem to be in pain but he
wouldn't weight bear on the hind legs.
Jordon was rushed to the emergency clinic
(His new mom met his Foster Mom there)
X-rays showed severe arthritis of the spine as
well as 4 collapsed discs. In addition, he has a GI track full of rocks and
had a bb pellet in belly. He stayed overnight at the clinic for IV steroids
and pain meds but appeared worse this morning.
We transported him to Dr. O'Leary's to get
IV fluids, muscle relaxants and a continuous narcotic drip but neither Dr.
O'Leary nor Dr. Fornes are optimistic of a positive outcome.
Apparently 3 of the collapsed discs are old ( Beagles are prone to this) -
they
think he collapsed one yesterday that's causing severe pain. The vets said
it can happen spontaneously
and he had no other evidence of trauma.
Because of the rocks in the GI tract and the need for steroids for his back,
he's at very high risk for a bowel
perforation also.
So with this problem and the fact that the collapsing will continue to occur
in
other discs, Dr. O'Leary did not endorse surgery and we agreed.
Dr. O'Leary said it is not looking good tonight but he has not given up on
Jordon. Dr. O'Leary said he will keep him on heavy meds so he is not in pain
now. Jordon's foster mom went back after work & he woke up when she petted
him & rubbed his belly.
She got him to drink some water & lick just a little food from her fingers.
Please keep him in your prayers .
We will keep everyone posted on what the night and morning
brings.
Jordon's new Mom is devastated...she fell so in love with him.
UPDATE 4/6/06
Jordon is still at the Vets office. He has some movement when his back paws
are touched
He is also experiencing some deep pain responses.
Both are good signs.
UPDATE 4/10/06
Sadly Jordon was showing no signs of improvement and was in intense pain from
the problems
with the disks in his spine. Jordon also started suffering from incontinence.Jordon
returned
home to his foster home over the past weekend for a lot of spoiling and good
food.
This morning Jordon was released from his pain and suffering while being held
and cuddled by
his foster mom Cathy.
Jordon spent the last four weeks of his life being very much loved by his
two foster parents
Cathy and Ken and by his new Mom " to be" Carole.
We are very sad that Jordon was in such horrible condition by the time he
arrived at CODA
and we were unable to heal his pain and restore his health.
Jordon had obviously suffered much pain, abuse and neglect for a very long
time
before being dropped in the night deposit box at Pike County Dog Pound in
OH
