MORRIS

Morris a male orange kitten who turned himself into rescue with C.O.D.A. on
January 15th 2008
Morris was outside our facility near the feral cat feeding station just "
meowing" very loudly and getting the full attention of all the rescue
dogs
We went out to see what all the fuss was about and found Morris trying to
climb the six foot fencing into the dogs exercise/play area
Our Director went out and called Morris and Morris ran over and jumped right
into her arms
Morris was born to one of the feral cats who feeds at our feeding station
in late December
None of the kittens from this litter has ever been handled by humans. C.O.D.A
has supplied the mom and the kittens with kitten chow
and water daily but any attempts to try to gain the trust of the mom or kittens
had not been effective
So our Director was totally amazed when Morris just leaped into her arms still
" meowing" as if he had something very important to tell her
The first thing our Director did after petting Morris was to check him over
thoroughly
Morris had the worst case of ear mites and fleas we have ever seen on a kitten
Our Director proceeded to give Morris a bath which took over an hour and Morris
was a perfect angel the entire time
Morris tolerated all the ear cleaning and the throurough flea bath and seemed
to actually quite enjoy it
Morris was very tiny and skinny in addition to having an extreme problem with
parasites
Morris was tucked into his own private little isolation crate with a litter
box, toys and food and water
After a few days Morris was doing well, eating , drinking and being very affectionate
and loving
Morris had his first Veterinary exam on 1/22/08 and tested negative for FLV/FIV/FIP
Dr. Brian immediately diagnosed Morris as having ringworm and provided us
with shampoo and medication to treat Morris's ringworm
Ringworm is a fungus which is easily spread to other animals and is also contagious
to humans
So Morris is still in quarantine right now but has completed his medication
cycle and has received
several baths with the medicated shampoo.
Total cost of Morris's first vet exam was $103
Morris will have a follow up exam by Dr. Brian soon and as soon as we are
notified that his ringworm is gone
Morris will be able to come out of isolation and be moved to the adoptable
cat room where he will
have other cats/kittens to play with which will make Morris very happy
Morris still needs to be neutered and receive another 2 sets of kitten vaccinations
before he will be released for adoption
UPDATE 2/27/08
Morris was neutered last week and has fully recovered from his neuter surgery
Morris is also completely cured of his ringworm fungus
Dr. Brian gave Morris the " all clear" to be moved in with the other
adoptable cats and Morris is loving have other cats/kittens
to play with
Morris particularly likes playing with Five who is a very playful young cat
awaiting adoption
MORRIS IS NOW READY FOR ADOPTION !
