SKY
Deaf Female Red Merle Australian Shepherd Puppy
Sky is a female Deaf Red Merle Australian Shepherd Puppy who was purchased
at a rodeo in southern Ohio
When her purchasers realized she was deaf Sky was banished to life living
in an outdoor 10 x 10 pen
for the first 9 months of her life
Sky's entire life consisted of a 10 x 10 outdoor pen with a dog house with
some straw thrown in, as her only shelter
Sky was never allowed indoors, or socialized or loved or properly cared for
Thank goodness a family member could no longer watch Sky suffer in this horrible
cold winter we're having in OH
and contacted rescue for help in finding Sky a better situation
Sky arrived in our care on Saturday February 9th 2008
Sky was very dirty upon arrival and had probably never been bathed her entire
life
She was infested with fleas badly also
Sky was bathed immediately upon arrival and was pretty good for her first
bath although unsure of what was going on
Once cleaned up Sky was fed and watered and introduced to her crate with
a nice warm, cozy blanket inside
along with her new toys.
Sky slept soundly her first night here and was suprised to find a comfy blanket
in her crate
Sky is a very sweet natured puppy who just wants to please her human caretakers
Sky has gorgeous red merle markings and very stong markings
(Her coat pattern closely resembles the Australian Shepherd who won the herding
breed category of Westminster Dog Show this year)

Sky is a VERY SMART girl and is learning quickly
Sky has already learned her sign for "Sit" within 2 days of arrival
and will consistenly " sit" when given the sign
Sky has some genetic eye abnormalities but has very good vision and it should
remain so throughout her life
Sky is a normal, happy, silly Australian Shepherd Puppy who has not had any
indoor potty accidents since her arrival
Sky discovered the outdoor Jolly Ball toy and quite enjoyed being free to
run and play outdoors
Sky had her first veterinary visit on Monday 2/11/08 and was given a clean
bill of health
Sky tested negative for heartworm disease
Sky is scheduled for her spay surgery on Friday 2/15/08
After Sky's vet visit she was allowed to start interacting with the other
dogs awaiting great homes
Sky played very nicely with Bandit and Lilly

Sky is amazingly fast and agile. She wore out Bandit and Lilly in their first
play session at the new dog park we're still working on completing
Bandit and Lilly slept well after a play session with Sky
Sky would do very well in agility training due to her speed and coordination
Sky also watches her trainer/handler constantly for signs and signals so will
be very easy to train for agility
when those traits are combined with her strong desire to please her human
caretakers.
