SPARKY

Sparky was adopted as a puppy from CODA
Sparky was pulled from his adoptive home New Years Day

Sparky is 100% housebroken and will paw at the door and pace when he has to go potty
Sparky would do best in a home where someone was home to supervise him
and further his training and sign language and allow him plenty of supervised/interactive play time
Sparky loves to play fetch and tug of war games with his dog toys
We're working on teaching Sparky to play catch

Sparky has severe crate anxiety problems since returning to CODA and cannot be crated
Sparky needs a lot of love and reassurance as he was severly emotionally neglected in his previous adoptive home
and his adopter did not continue with Sparky's sign training so he is going through a retraining program here at CODA
Isabelle likes Sparky and is very sweet and motherly to Sparky

Sparky has a very non alpha personality with other dogs
Sparky is fine with the cats here at CODA also
Sparky is neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations
Sparky knows the sign for "lay" consistently but is still a very active, energetic puppy
who has just reached a year old Dec 14th of 2005
Sparky does settle down well as long as he can be near his human caretakers to nap , sleep, or rest.
Sparky requires a home with a securely 6' fenced yard
Sparky gets along well with other dogs and has lived in a household with a senior female Border Collie
and a 3 year old Male Deaf Border Collie since he was originally adopted
Australian Shepherd experienced home is preffered for Sparky
Sparky would do best in a home with an active younger dog for a playmate

UPDATE 1/15/06
Sparky continues to do well on his retraining in sign language.
He's learned the signs for " no", " go outside" " potty" , "lay down", "give kisses"
Sparky is settling down well at night now and slept out with free roam of his foster home and did well without
any problems and woke his foster mom up when he had to potty in the morning
He's still a bit over interested in the kitties but just wants to play and herd them.
We're working on teaching him better kitty manners now.
Sparky is very well behaved when riding in a car uncrated and has stopped barking at everything he see's while
out riding in a car. He's gotten a lot of car manners training the past few weeks.
Sparky walks fairly well on a leash and we're working on fine tuning his leash skills also.
He's a very sweet loving dog who really aims to please his human caretakers
UPDATE 3/24/06
Sparky has learned the sign for " sit " consistently and loves to do " sit" for a treat
Sparky also now has free run of his foster home when his foster parents are home to supervise and is allowed
to stay out of his crate at night also
Sparky has also started his crate re-training now that he is less fearful of being left in a crate
and is only crated for short periods of time. He is now entering the crate on his own
and not getting as upset when the crate door closes.
Sparky is non destructive and has learned to take a dog toy out of the toy basket when he's bored
and he is fine with the kitties in his foster home now.
Sparky walks really nicely on a leash now also
Sparky's only issue we're still working on is his separation anxiety issue which Sparky developed in his adoptive home
from being left alone in his crate for many hours at a time
Sparky is so fearful of being abandoned but he is learning to trust his caretakers and is becoming
less needy each day as he learns that his needs will always be met here at CODA.
UPDATE 5/20/06
Sparky has come such a long way since his return to CODA
Sparky is 100% housebroken again and is fine being crated again
Sparky is such a sweet and loving dog and was a big hit at the last two public adoption events he attended

Sparky is now fine with the resident CODA cats and gets along with all the other dogs
Sparky is well behaved when riding in the CODA van and loves to go for rides
Sparky curls right up next to the other dogs at night and sleeps soundly through the night uncrated
Sparky has even been left out with the other dogs unattended when his foster parents weren't home
and did excellent without any problems

We feel that Sparky is now ready for re-adoption
If you are interested in giving Sparky a loving home please fill out an adoption application

ADOPTED
