WONDER
Wonder is a blind Walker Hound/Catahoula mix puppy that was saved from an
OK kill shelter. He was adopted from the shelter in Owasso OK and was returned
to the shelter by his adoptive family because they were supposedly moving
out of state.
We contacted the shelter about Wonder after someone in Catahoula rescue notified
us that Wonder was back at the shelter

and we did it just in time as Wonder was scheduled to be put down the next
morning at the shelter
We originally inquired about rescuing Wonder when he was a small puppy the
first time he was at the Animal Shelter in OK
We were told Wonder was in a Foster home already so we went onto the next
Special Needs Dog that was in immediate danger
When we learned he was back at the Animal Shelter and had been through 3 Foster
homes and a failed adoption we
agreed to rescue Wonder.
The Animal Shelter called us two days before Wonder was scheduled to be transported
to our rescue to inform us that they had a case of parvo at the Animal Shelter
and asked if they should just go ahead and put Wonder down or if we were still
interested in rescuing him.
We were able to find a safe quarantine area for Wonder and Wonder was quarantined
away from any other dogs for two weeks and retested for Parvo thanks to our
wonderful foster dad in KY Jason
Wonder tested negative and was moved to our KY foster home
. 
The pictures are of Wonder enjoying a run through the field and a swim in the lake while in our KY foster home.
Wonder had never been seen by a veterinarian before we took him into our
rescue and we were told he was born completely blind.
Wonder is now neutered and up to date on all his shots
Wonder is house broken, crate trained and knows basic commands such as "sit", "lay down", "no" "come" "go outside" and is working on "Give Me Paw"
Wonder was seen by the Veterinary Opthamologist on August 16th 2004. Sadly there is nothing that can be done to improve Wonder's vision. It is believed that someone put lye in one of Wonders eyes and the other eye is blind from a congential defect
There is nothing that can be done to restore any level of vision in Wonder's eyes
Wonder lives live to the fullest. He is one happy , blind puppy who gets around great and loves to run and swim and play with all the other dogs here in rescue. Wonder has also learned to be nice to the kitties here too!
Wonder is great with children also
Wonder's adoption fee is $175.00

Wonder would be happiest being adopted by someone who can spend a lot of one
on one time with him cuddling and taking him for rides and walks
Wonder would be happiest with another young energetic friendly dog to play
with
Wonder gets along fine with other dogs, cats, and children.
Wonder is a very happy well adjusted blind puppy!
Wonder moved back to our KY foster home recently after spending several months
here in Cleveland so he could see the Canine Eye Specialist and because our
KY foster home's younger brother lost both his legs in Iraq and they didn't
want to have to board Wonder while they went to Washington D.C to be with
their brother
Our KY Foster parents very much love Wonder and without them Wonder would
not be alive today!
We are hoping to get Wonder into a drug dog training program soon there in
KY because Wonder has the best nose on the planet. His nose is great because
he's a Walker Hound but Wonder has an even more developed sense of smell due
to being blind which makes his sense of smell excellent compared to other
Walker Hounds
Wonder was so happy to see the children in his foster family when they came
to Cleveland to take him back home to KY
He climbed right in the van and made himself right at home with the children
in the back of the van who were watching a DVD movie and settled right in
with a big smile on his face
Our KY foster parents have a special place in their hearts for our Wonder
Dog because he is their first blind foster dog
